Camels open outdoor season at UNCW Seahawk Invite

BUIES CREEK, N.C. --- Coming off of runner-up finishes at the 2017 Big South Indoor Track & Field Championships, the Campbell men's and women's track & field teams are ready to carry that momentum into outdoor season. The Fighting Camels compete in their first outdoor meet of the year this weekend at the UNCW Seahawk Invite, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, March 10-11.

Day one will begin at noon for Campbell with the men's and women's long jump. Alize Graham and Nate Tyson are set to compete for the Campbell men, as well as Chase Edwards who will make his collegiate long jump debut. Sabina Allen, Shenelle McKay and Jullia Morris will jump for the women.

Allen will compete in the 100m dash trials, set to begin at 2:00 p.m on day one. She currently ranks sixth in that event on Campbell's all-time top 10 list with a personal-best mark of 12.02.

CU will be well represented in the women's 800m, scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Friday. Amina Alvarez Barkane, Roshae Jackson, Michaela Louw, Brianna Meyrick, Kelsey Rea, Logan Shearon, Heidi Tuszkiewicz and Kaelyn Yoder are all set to compete. Jackson holds the Campbell program record in the 800m with a mark of 2:09.99. On the men's side, the freshman trio of Casper Duell, Travis Gallimore and Ka'Deem Wynn will represent the Camels in the 800m.

Campbell will end day one with the women's and men's 5000m races. Jade Baldwin, Ali Bowen, Madeline Fitch and Megan Lanzon will compete for CU on the women's side, while freshmen Graeme Fisher, Hunter Gilbert and Billy Knabe will run for the Campbell men.

Day two also begins at noon for Campbell as the women are entered in the 4x100m relay, with participants yet to be determined. Up next will be the men's triple jump at 1:00 p.m., where Graham and Noah Tyson will compete for the Fighting Camels.

Jackson will compete for the Campbell women in the 400m dash. On the men's side, Chigozie Atavwigho, Jacob Carter, Collin Cooper and Marcus Mize are set to run the 400. Following the 100m dash finals, Atavwigho and Mize will also compete in the men's 400m intermediate hurdles.

Racheal Brown, Jocelyn Culbreath, Jada Johnson, Lilla Juhasz, McKay, Morris and Tatiana Wolfe are set to run the women's 200m dash beginning at 3:45 p.m. Following the women's 200, Daequon Carr, Carter and Cooper will represent Campbell in the men's 200m. Campbell will end the meet as the women compete in the 4x400m relay.
