Campbell men, women voted second in Big South preseason poll

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Campbell men's and women's outdoor track & field teams have both been selected to finish second in the Big South, the conference office announced Thursday afternoon. Both squads were unanimously selected second by the league's coaches in the preseason poll.

The Liberty men and women were chosen first by every coach in the conference to total 49 and 64 points, respectively, while the Campbell men and women received 42 and 56 points in their respective polls.

The Campbell men are coming off of their third runner-up finish in the last four years at the Big South Indoor Championships after notching a program-best 170 points. Senior Amon Terer was named the Big South Men's Track Athlete of the Year, while freshman Amon Kemboi earned Freshman of the Year honors. CU earned seven individual conference championships in the men's 60m dash, mile, 3000m, 5000m, distance medley relay, triple jump and high jump.

The Campbell women also notched a runner-up finish at the 2017 Big South Indoor Championships for the team's best finish in program history. CU earned 174 points with six individual conference titles in the women's 60m hurdles, 200m, mile, 3000m, 5000m and long jump. Joan Maritim was named the Women's Track Athlete of the Year after taking home three golds and a silver that weekend.

The Camels continue outdoor season this weekend at the Raleigh Relays and the UNF Spring Break Open.
