Maritim breaks school record at Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. – Campbell junior Joan Maritim broke her own school record in the women's 10,000m with a time of 34:35.83 to highlight Campbell's performances Friday night at the Raleigh Relays. She finished 12th at the meet, and her time also currently ranks 12th in the NCAA.

Freshman Amon Kemboi also posted in an impressive performance on the men's side, finishing in 28.57.45 in his collegiate 10K debut to rank sixth at the meet. That mark ranks sixth in the NCAA, and was just two seconds away from an all-time Campbell record.

The Camels began day one of the meet with Michaela Louw running the women's 5K. The freshman finished with a time of 18:12.45 in her collegiate outdoor 5K debut.

Up next was the men's 400m, where Collin Cooper and Jacob Carter represented CU. Cooper finished in 50.06, just .03 seconds off of his personal-best mark, while Carter once again broke his PR with a time of 52.20.

Graeme Fisher and Kelvin Kirui competed in the men's 1500m for Campbell. Fisher finished with a mark of 4:01.52 in his collegiate 1500m debut. Kirui competed in a later section, completing the race in 3:49.03 for the 17th-fastest time on the day.

In the field events, Chase Edwards represented CU in the high jump while Nate Tyson competed in the long jump. Edwards tied a PR after he was able to clear 1.95m, while Tyson notched a 6.82m performance in the long jump.
