BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Junior guard Kiera Gaines (Mechanicsville, Va.) was announced to the College Sports Madness Big South Preseason All-Conference First Team on Monday.

Gaines was honored on the 2012-13 All-Big South Second Team after compiling 11.1 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.3 steals per game. She shot 50.0 pct. from the field, while making 25 three pointers at a 41.7 clip.

With former-Campbell standout Tonisha Baker playing professionally in Germany for the Marburg Blue Dolphins, the Mechanicsville, Va., native is the Camels' top returner. Gaines tied the total for the most blocks in program history with 33 last season.

She achieved double-figures in points during 15 contests, while registering 10-or-more rebounds three times. Gaines led Campbell in scoring on eight occasions and rebounding seven times.

The Camels return 11 players including starters senior Ashley James (Round Rock, Texas) and Roslyn Presley (Petersburg, Va.) and Gaines. Campbell posted a 20-11 overall and 11-7 Big South mark to finish fifth in the league standings.

Head Coach Wanda Watkins enters her 33nd season at the helm of the Campbell program with 498 victories. She is one of 10 women's basketball coaches to serve 30 or more years at the same institution.

Campbell begins the season on Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. against Erskine inside Gore Arena/John W. Pope Jr. Convocation Center.
