Campbell Finishes As Runner-Up at Atlantic Sun Women's Golf Championship

DeLAND, FLA. – Campbell University finished second in the Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Golf Championship on Wednesday at Victoria Hills. Georgia State – winner in 2003 and runner-up to Campbell last spring – won the league title by six strokes, matching Campbell's final-round 308 for a 54-hole total of 917.

For the 10th time in 11 years in the league, Coach John Crooks' Lady Camels placed among the top two schools.

Georgia State earned the Atlantic Sun's automatic berth in the NCAA Regionals. Campbell – the A-Sun Champion in 2004, 2002, 2001, 1998, 1997 and 1996 — must wait for a possible at-large bid to one of the three regional tournaments, which will be held May 5-7. The regional participants will be announced April 21.

Junior Lisbeth Meincke of Georgia State won her second-straight A-Sun individual crown with a five-over 221 for the 54-hole event. She shot 76 on Wednesday following rounds of 71-74 over the first two days. Two other Lady Panthers finished among the top seven individuals – Anna Scott (fourth at 228) and Joanna Klatten (tied for sixth at 232)

Sophomore Alejandra Shaw led Campbell with Wednesday's tournament-low round of a two-under-par 70 to finish as the individual runner-up in the event at plus-nine 225. Freshman Camila Lopez also earned all-tournament honors by placing fifth after shooting a 78 on Wednesday to finish with a three-day total of 229.

Campbell junior Sofia Gorelik also shot 78 on Wednesday to end the tournament at 235 and tie for 13th individually.
