Campbell Moves Up To Second After 36 Holes at Waterlefe/USF Invitational

BRADENTON, FLA. – Campbell shot a 299 over the second 18 holes and moved up to a tie for second place after Monday's first two rounds of the Waterlefe/South Florida Invitational women's golf tournament.

The Lady Camels rebounded from an opening-round 310 to fire the second-best score of the day and trail only team leader MIami by 13 strokes heading into Tuesday's final 18 holes.

Campbell's Sofia Gorelik and Camila Lopez are tied for 11th individually after 36 holes on the par-72, 5975-yard Waterlefe Golf Club layout. Sophomore Alejandra Shaw shot a 72, one of only five rounds of par or better in the second round among the 69 golfers entered in the event.

Miami's Tina Miller (73-71) moved into a tie with first round individual leader Lisbeth Meincke (71-73) of Georgia State at even-par 144, three strokes ahead of a trio of golfers knotted at 147.

Gorelik and Lopez shot identical scores (76-75—151) on the first day to stand seven strokes off the pace. Campbell's Maite Ortiz de Pinedo is tied for 20th at 165 (79-77), while Emily Simpson is at 27th (79-79—158) and Shaw 32nd (87-72—159).

Miami leads the 12-school field at 596 (303-293), followed by Campbell (609), Coastal Carolina (609), South Florida (616) and first-round leader Georgia State (618).
