BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell senior Teresa Urquizu has been chosen as the Choice Hotels Big South Conference Women's Golfer of the Week for events played Jan. 31-Feb. 6.
Urquizu logged her third top 10 finish of the season with a seventh-place showing at the Hurricane Invitational (par 71, 6,007 yards). She carded a 69 in the first round and tallied eight birdies overall en route to a 5-over par 218. Urquizu was the top finisher among the 11 Big South golfers competing during the week.
On the year, she owns a 74.3 stroke average. A native of San Sebastian, Spain, Urquizu was ranked No.-183 in the latest Golfstat Cup national rating.
Urquizu's selection marks the fourth time a Campbell player has been named Big South women's golfer of the week this season. Brooke Bellomy (Sept. 13), Kaylin Yost (Oct. 25) and Maria Jose Benavides (Nov. 1) earned the honor during the fall campaign.
Ranked 35th nationally in the latest NCAA head-to-head rating, Campbell returns to action Mar. 3-5 in the Edwin Watts Kiawah Island Classic hosted by the College of Charleston at Cougar Point.
