Campbell leads by 8 strokes at women’s Program Challenge

PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – With three individuals among the top five, Campbell holds an 8-stroke edge in the team standings heading into Tuesday's final round of the women's Golfweek Program Challenge at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club.

Ali Prazak is second, Lisbeth Brooks tied for third and Tahnia Ravnjak tied for fifth in the 60-player field.

The 54-hole event matches men's and women's teams from 12 schools from around the country.  The combined men's and women's scores from each program are added at the end of the event to determine the overall champion.

A red-shirt junior from St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Prazak played the final 8 holes Monday at 2-under-par and followed up Sunday's collegiate career low 70 with a 3-over 73 Monday.  She sits 3 strokes behind individual leader Ginger Mak of James Madison (72-68—140).

Brooks, a junior from Waunakee, Wisc., is one stroke back at two-over 144 (69-75), while Ravnjak – last year's Big South Conference freshman of the year – fired a collegiate low 2-under 69 Monday and is five strokes off the pace (76-69—145).  Ravnjak placed the final nine holes at 3-under-par and made 4 birdies on the day.

Senior Kaylin Yost moved up to a tie for 14th at 5-over 147 (76-71) following an even-par round Monday.  She made 3 birdies, including ones on the par-five 15th and par-three 17th holes.  Freshman Louise Latorre is tied for 22nd place at 8-over 150 following a second-straight 75.

Campbell followed Sunday's 290 with a 4-over 288 Monday and are 10-over for the event (578).  James Madison is second (298-288—586), two strokes ahead of Jacksonville State (297-291—588).

Live scoring is available on-line at Golfstat.com.

In 2012 Campbell won the combined men's and women's Program Challenge with 1738 strokes, 24 fewer than Central Arkansas (1762), which won the 2012 men's tournament at True Blue Golf Club.

Campbell and East Carolina tied, rather improbably, for the 2011 Program Challenge crown, each school shooting a cumulative, 54-hole score of 1,716. Mitch Gray and Michelle Koh combined to win a male and female, alternate shot play-off on the first hole at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club.
