FERNANDINA BEACH, FLA. – With six golfers among the top 11 individuals, Campbell University is tied for second in the team standings after 36 holes Monday of the Amelia Island Collegiate.
At 10-over 586 (292-294), Campbell trails Mercer (297-286—583) by three strokes heading into Tuesday's final round. Daytona State (302-287—589) is third in the 18-school field.
Campbell junior Annelie Sjoholm is second on the individual leader board at 3-under 141 (70-71), one stroke behind Jiwon Jeon of Daytona State (71-69—140) in the 96-golfer field.
Playing as individuals, Campbell teammates Anna Svanka (73-72—145) and Louise Latorre (72-73—145) are tied for fifth at one-over par. Senior Nadine White is tied for seventh (74-72—146), while junior Ayelen Irizar is tied for 11th (71-76—147).
A native of Vasteras, Sweden, Sjoholm carded a season-low 70 in Monday morning's opening round. Her 10 birdies through 36 holes are the most in the field and she leads the event in par-four scoring (-2). Sjoholm played the par-five holes at 2-under, tied for third.
Svanka recorded her two lowest rounds of the 2016-17 season and played the par-5 holes at 2-under, while making 8 birdies on the day (both tied for third). Latorre's day included six birdies and 23 pars and she also played the par-5 layouts at 2-under (tied for third). She was Campbell's low individual at the 2016 Amelia Island Collegiate after finishing in a third-place tie.
The 2016 Big South Conference player of the year, Nadine White played her final 11 holes at 2-under. She leads the field in par-5 scoring (-4) through 36 holes and is tied for 7th on the par-3 holes (-1). White's day featured six birdies and 24 pars.
Irizar made six birdies on the day and is tied for the lead in par-3 scoring (-2). She also played the par-5 holes at 2-under (tied for 3rd).
