JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. – In a field that includes 10 top-50 ranked schools, Campbell is second after 36 holes Monday of the Briar's Creek Invitational women's golf tournament.
The Gators stand at 13-under 563 (277-286) on the par-72, 6101-yard Golf Club at Briar's Creek, 10 strokes ahead of Campbell (28-4289—573), the only other team in red numbers through 36 holes. No.-27 Illinois is third at 1-over 577, one shots better than No.-15 Miami and No.-43 Louisville in the 18-team field.
Olivia Cason of Louisville (68-69—137) and Laura Fuenfstueck from host College of Charleston (68-69—137) share the individual lead after two rounds at 7-under-par.
A senior from Brisbane, Australia, White followed a 1-under-par 71 with a 2-under 70. She is tied for the tournament lead in par-4 scoring (-3) and her day included nine birdes plus an eagle on the par-five 10th hole.
Andersson, a freshman from Hollviken, Sweden, shot her two lowest rounds of the season (72-71—143) and is tied with fellow Swede Sjoholm (69-74—143) for 14th place. Andersson is tied for fifth in the field with 10 birdies, while Sjoholm leads the 93-golfer event with 11 birdies entering Tuesday's action.
As a team, Campbell leads the field with 41 birdies. Tuesday's final round begins with an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start. Live scoring is available at Golfstat.com.
Since winning the Palmetto Intercollegiate last October, Campbell has opened the spring portion of its schedule with second- (Amelia Island Collegiate), fifth- (UNF Collegiate) and fourth-place (Gator Invitational) finishes.
