BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Swedish standout Isabell Ekstrom will join Coach John Crooks' two-time defending Big South Conference champion Campbell University women's golf team this fall.
"Isabell is an extremely talented young lady on the course and in the classroom," said Crooks, who has guided his team to NCAA post-season competition in 20 of the last 25 years. "She brings a high level of athleticism along with a strong desire to become a great player to our team. I am honored to have the opportunity to work with this outstanding student-athlete."
The winner of seven Swedish JMI tournaments, Ekstrom was a member (and the only female) of the winning team in the 2016 Swedish School championships. She claimed top honors with Alice Sundberg at the 2017 2017 Skandia Grand Open and was runner-up in the 2016 Norwegian Junior Trophy.
Ekstrom also finished third in the 2016 Greg Norman Academy Junior Invitational at Myrtle Beach, S.C., and third in the 2017 Colombian Junior International.
She joins a Campbell program that has reached NCAA post-season play in each of the last six years and has won four Big South Conference titles in the same span. Ekstrom will compete on a 2017-18 Campbell squad that includes the returning Big South golfer of the year Annelie Sjoholm and freshman of the year Desiree Andersson, both natives of Sweden.
