BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Campbell women's lacrosse team hosted Pfeiffer Saturday in a preseason scrimmage at Barker-Lane Stadium. The match served as a tune up before Campbell's inaugural regular season begins Feb. 23.

The teams faced off at 1:00 p.m. and played for a full 60 minutes. Afterward, the Camels and the Flacons held a combined practice to further prepare for the upcoming season.

"First and foremost, it was absolutely productive," said head coach Phil Schuman.  "It would be difficult to not be competitive in this setting. No matter how much we tell the kids it's just a scrimmage and we're trying to get something on film, we get out here and want to be competitive."

Although no score was recorded, the scrimmage was officiated like a regular contest. It was the first and only preseason action for the Fighting Camels, who were able to play full field for the first time.

"I thought that we got a lot out of it and there will be a lot to break down on film next week," Schuman continued. "It's a good opportunity to see what we need to do and get better. Not surprising to anyone, we were bad at things we can't practice and we were good in some other areas. We started out a little sluggish, and that's to be expected. It was all in all a good day. Pfeiffer was great to come up here and we're glad we could host them in the first lacrosse event on campus ever."

The first lacrosse game in CU history will be Saturday, Feb. 23 at 7:00 p.m. under the lights at Barker-Lane Stadium.
