Campbell hosts VMI for final home dual of 2016-17

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The final home dual of the 2016-17 season takes place Feb. 18 inside Carter Gym at 5:00 p.m. against VMI.

Campbell (9-6, 5-1) seeks to finish the regular season on a six-match winning streak and finish second in the Southern Conference. VMI sits second to the bottom of the league at 2-11 overall and 1-5 in SoCon action.

With a victory, Campbell will finish with a 10-win season for the first time since the 2011-12 campaign where it finished with 11 dual wins.

Last time out for Campbell:

· Last Saturday, Campbell defeated SIUE inside Carter Gym, 27-16.

· CU picked up wins in six weight classes, all but one win was of the bonus point variety.

· SIUE opened with a major decision at 125, but a forfeit win at 133 and Joshua Heil's win at 141 put Campbell ahead 9-4.

· The visitors won at 149, but Austin Kraisser (157) and Quentin Perez (165) combined for nine team points to put the Camels ahead by 11, 18-7.

· Each side scored nine points in the final four bouts, splitting the victories, as Campbell won by an 11-point margin, 27-16.

· Jere Heino's win at 285 has given him seven consecutive wins including three over ranked opponents.

Scouting the opponent:

· VMI enters with only one win in conference action this season, a 32-10 victory at Davidson.

· The Keydets take on Sacred Heart Friday evening at 7 p.m. prior to Saturday's dual at Campbell.

· Dalton Henderson (125) has a 21-10 overall record, 6-5 in dual and 3-2 in SoCon action.

· Neal Richards (157) has a 22-5 record, 9-2 overall and 5-1 in conference action.

· Michael Hulcher also boasts a .500 or better record at 133 and 141.

· Last year at VMI, Campbell took a 24-15 victory. CU is 6-12 against VMI overall, but has won four of the last five.
