Brown and Clark named to NCCSIA all-state team

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) announced that Taylor Brown and Ashley Clark were named to its 2012-13 all-state University Division women's soccer team on Wednesday. Twenty-one players representing 10 different North Carolina universities were named to the Women's Soccer All-State teams.

Big South regular-season champion High Point University and UNC Wilmington each placed three players on the first-team. Campbell had two players selected while Charlotte, UNC Asheville and UNC Greensboro each had one player named to the first unit.

Senior Taylor Brown (Raleigh, N.C.) finished second for Campbell and first among defenders in the state with five goals on the season. She was second on the Camels in minutes played and was part of a Campbell defense that posted four shutouts on the season. Brown was named first-team All-Big South. She was also named Big South Defensive Player of the Week the first week of the season and was selected to the Catamount Classic All-Tournament team.

Sophomore Ashley Clark (Cary, N.C.) is the final member of the first-team and the second member from Campbell. Clark led the Camels with 10 goals and 23 points on the season. She finished fifth in the conference in both goals scored and points. Clark was named first-team All-Big South. She was named Big South Attacking Player of the Week once and was placed on the Catamount Classic All-Tournament team.

Nominees were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals and voted on by the NCCSIA members.
