CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – Freshman duo Payton Ormsby and Lilja Bjork each netted two goals Friday as Campbell earned their first win of the season over Texas Southern 4-3 in the Islanders Soccer Classic. Bjork added an assist to Ormsby as the Camels moved to 1-1 on the season and Texas Southern fell to 0-4.

"We came to get a win and we got a win," head coach Todd Clark said. "We have to clean up a bit and punch in chances. We scored enough to get a win and that's what we came to do. Lilja Bjork had an excellent game after only being on campus a week. We are proud of our freshmen who stepped up and are looking to get another win on Sunday."

Ormsby (Chesapeake, Va.) notched her first collegiate goal only two minutes into play off an assist from classmate Kine Throsvik (Bergen, Norway). Only nine minutes later, she tabbed her second goal of the match as Bjork (Solna, Sweden) fed her a pass for the score, bringing the Camel lead to two.

Texas Southern got on the board in the 29th minute, as Ruth Giraldo slipped the ball past Camel sophomore goalkeeper Alexis Connors (Johns Creek, Ga.).

The first half ended with a 2-1 Camel lead. Campbell took 11 shots in the half, six on goal.

Bjork got the second half started with the third Camel goal only 48 seconds after the break. The unassisted goal was her first at CU.  She notched the fourth and final Camel goal in the 50th minute, bringing the score to 4-1.

Texas Southern answered with a goal in the 59th minute as Marlyn Campa knocked in an unassisted score.  Campbell knocked in an own goal for the third Tiger score, making the final score 4-3.

Campbell finished the match with 21 total shots, with Bjork leading the way with four on-goal. Connors ended the day with five total saves on seven shots on the frame.

The Camels are back in action Sunday as they continue action in the Islanders Soccer Classic, taking on Texas A&M – Corpus Christi at noon.
