BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Looking to break a three game skid, Campbell (4-4-0, 0-1-0 Big South) travels to Liberty (6-3-0, 1-0-0 Big South) Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. tilt. The Camels are seeking their first Big South win of the season in their fourth straight road game.
Camels look for first conference win on quick turnaround
The Camels will be playing on one day of rest as their Big South opener at UNC Asheville was pushed from Wednesday to Thursday due to rain. CU fell to the Bulldogs 1-0, their third straight loss on the road. Sophomore keeper Samantha Lawson earned her first career start in the net, grabbing a career-high five saves. Junior Kellsey Costello-Mays led the Camel offense with a career-high six shots, four on goal.
Scouting the Flames (6-3-0, 1-0-0 BSC)
Liberty opened the Big South schedule with a 1-0 win over Charleston Southern Wednesday on a Brittany Aanderud goal. The Flames are 3-1 at home this season, as all three wins were shutouts for keeper Holly Van Noord. Alanna Dunkle paces the Liberty offense with three goals and three assists on the season while Van Noord has recorded 38 saves with a .905 save percentage.
Campbell owns the edge in the all-time series against the Flames 4-2. Last year's matchup went to overtime in the Creek after the score was tied at one at the end of regulation. Kirsty Meyer netted the lone Camel goal off a Michelle Procaccini assist in the 72nd minute to tie the game. Three minutes into overtime, Liberty scored and took the 2-1 win.
