Women's tennis opens spring season with doubleheader Saturday

BUIES CREEK, N.C. -- Campbell women's tennis is set to open their spring season with two matches this weekend in Raleigh, N.C. on Saturday, January 21. The Camels will begin with a neutral site matchup against the Appalachian State Mountaineers at 1 p.m., then take on the Wolfpack of N.C. State at 5 p.m. at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center. 

Most recently, CU was chosen by the league's coaches to finish fourth in the Big South preseason poll. Campbell returns two all-conference honorees from last season in Georgina Segarra and Isabel Boada. Segarra garnered second-team honors in singles with a 12-7 record on the year, going 10-6 in conference play. She and Boada were named second team all-conference in doubles, boasting a team-best 7-5 record in duals and a 4-3 record in conference matches.

NC State and App State will also be opening their spring seasons Saturday as they face each other at 9 a.m. The Wolfpack is led by senior Martina Frantova who is ranked 36th on the ITA Division I singles rankings. The Mountaineers are looking build off the success of sophomore Rebecca Morse, who capped off an impressive fall season at the ITA Carolina Regionals with a first-round win over USC Upstate's Filippa Ericson.
