Women's tennis sweeps home opener against Chowan

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Campbell women's tennis team took care of business in their home opener, defeating the Chowan Hawks in sweeping fashion, 7-0, Thursday afternoon at the Nisbet Tennis Center.

The Camels (2-1) began with doubles play as Lea Cutura and Nina Asanin got the first win of the day over Chowan's Daneshjoo/Pacelli, 6-2. Alexandra Nicoara and Pauline Roustan clinched the doubles point for CU with a 6-3 win over Carrier/Gouin. On court one, Alexandra Andrivot and Isabel Boada picked up their third win of the season, defeating Novachuk/Smolchenkova 6-3.

Singles play began with a quick 6-2, 6-2 win by Roustan over Gouin. Nicoara finished next for the Camels, 6-1, 6-2 against Carrier. Campbell clinched the victory as Andrivot defeated Chowan's top player in Polina Novachuk, 6-3, 6-3 on court one. Cutura won her match, 6-3, 6-4, over Smolchenkova followed by a 6-1, 6-0 win from Boada on court five. CU ended the match and completed the sweep with Nina Asanin's 6-2, 7-5 victory over Roxana Daneshjoo.

Up next, the Camels will hit the road as they visit Coastal Carolina for their first true road match on Saturday, Feb. 4.
