BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Fighting Camels fell in a close one as the Charlotte 49ers dealt the Campbell women's tennis team its first home loss of the season Tuesday afternoon at the Nisbet Tennis Center. The Camels kept it close up until the end, but UNCC eventually held on to win, 4-2.

In doubles play, the 49ers earned their first win of the day on court two as Lea Cutura and Nina Asanin fell to Martin/Cowper, 6-1. Alexandra Andrivot and Isabel Boada picked up their second dual match victory of the season on court one, defeating Smith/Imparato, 6-3. CU fought hard on court three, but Alexandra Nicoara and Pauline Roustan ultimately fell to Vonderschmidt/Lee, 6-4, to give UNCC the doubles point.

Campbell (2-3) began singles play with a win by default after Boada had taken the first set over Cowper, 6-0. Roustan fell on court four, 6-1, 6-2, followed by Asanin who was defeated, 6-3, 6-0, giving the 49ers a 3-1 lead. The Camels would not go down without a fight as Andrivot won the first singles flight after a tiebreaker in the second set, 6-2, 7-6(7).
