BUIES CREEK, N.C. -- Campbell junior Nina Asanin won her No. 6 singles match in three sets to clinch a close victory for the Camels, 4-3, over the Radford Highlanders Friday afternoon at the James R. Nisbet Tennis Center. It was the first win in Big South play for CU this season.

The match began with doubles play as Alexandra Nicoara and Isabel Boada picked up a quick win on court two, defeating Dzeubou/Nguyen 6-2. CU fell on court one, 6-4, as Lea Cutura and Pauline Roustan partnered up for the first time this spring against Sayer/Martin. The Highlanders clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win on court three over Alexandra Andrivot and Georgina Segarra, who saw her first dual match action of the spring season.

Trailing 1-0 in doubles play, the Camels would not go down without a fight. Boada notched the first point for Campbell with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Radford's Karlie Pope. Cutura earned the next victory with a score of 6-3, 6-1 on court two to give Campbell a 2-1 lead. Andrivot won her No. 1 singles match over Drousile Dzeubou, 6-3, 6-4 for her 11th win of the 2016-17 campaign.

Radford earned wins on courts four and three to tie the match, and it all came down to court six. Asanin won the first set with ease, 6-3, but RU's Yuliia Popova was able to force a third set after taking the second, 7-5. Asanin held on in the third, ultimately winning with a score of 6-3, 5-7, 7-5.
