Camels drop close one to Bulldogs, 4-3

BUIES CREEK, N.C. -- The Fighting Camels fell in a close conference match against the UNC Asheville Bulldogs, 4-3, Saturday afternoon at the James R. Nisbet Tennis Center. The loss moves Campbell to 4-7 on the year with a 1-2 record in Big South play.

The Bulldogs (7-5, 2-1 BSC) began the match with a win on court two as Alexandra Nicoara and Isabel Boada fell, 6-0. Alexandra Andrivot and Georgina Segarra picked up their first doubles win of the spring on court three with a 6-2 decision. UNC Asheville clinched the doubles point at No. 1 doubles with a win over Lea Cutura and Pauline Roustan, 6-3.

Trailing 1-0 headed into singles play, the Camels did their best to keep it close. Andirvot earned the first singles win of the day for CU with a score of 6-3, 6-0 over Francisco. Alexandra Nicoara won her No. 4 singles matchup 6-3, 6-3 to tie the match at 2-2. UNCA went on to win on courts two and six to clinch the win. Isabel Boada won her second-straight match after her opponent was forced to retire due to injury.
