Camels earn second conference win over Lancers, 5-2

FARMVILLE, Va. -- The Fighting Camels earned their second conference win of the season over the Longwood Lancers, 5-2, Friday afternoon at the Lancer Courts. The win moves Campbell to 5-7 on the year with a 2-2 record in Big South play.

Campbell swept doubles play, with Nina Asanin and Georgina Segarra earning the first win on court three, 6-1. Alexandra Andrivot and Isabel Boada won their team-leading fourth doubles match on court one to clinch the doubles point, 6-3. Lea Cutura and Pauline Roustan took their match on court two, 6-4, to round out doubles action.

Andrivot took her third-straight singles win at Campbell's top spot as she quickly defeated Jamie Breunig, 6-0, 6-3. The next win for CU came on court four as Alexandra Nicoara bested Mason Thomas, 6-1, 6-2, for her second-consecutive victory. Longwood won its next two singles matches, but the Camels clinched the win as Roustan forced a third set and won, 1-6, 7-6, 6-3. Asanin took the final match of the day on court six, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.

Next week, Campbell will face back-to-back conference opponents in Gardner-Webb and Presbyterian. The Camels will visit the Runnin' Bulldogs on Friday, March 17 before taking on the Blue Hose on Sunday, March 19.
