Camels dominate singles play to defeat Blue Hose, 5-2

CLINTON, S.C. -- The Fighting Camels earned a hard-fought win over the Presbyterian Blue Hose, 5-2, Sunday afternoon at the Templeton Tennis Courts. After dropping the doubles point to PC, CU answered with five singles victories to claim their third win in Big South action this spring.

Campbell (6-8, 3-3 BSC) opened the match with a win from Alexandra Andrivot and Isabel Boada at No. 1 doubles, 6-1, good for the duo's third-straight doubles victory. Lea Cutura and Pauline Roustan fell on court two, 6-1, then PC clinched the doubles point on court three as Nina Asanin and Georgina Segarra fell, 6-4.

Up next was singles play, where Roustan fell on court three, 6-3, 6-0 to give PC a 2-0 advantage. The Camels would not go down without a fight, winning five-straight singles matches to end the day. Andrivot stayed hot with her fifth-straight singles win at the No. 1 spot, 6-2, 6-3. Asanin got back on track with a quick 6-3, 6-1 win to tie the match at 2-2. Boada took her second-straight match on court five, 7-5, 6-3, to give Campbell its first lead of the afternoon.

The match was clinched at No. 2 singles as Cutura snapped a three-match singles losing streak, defeating PC's Ferrari 6-2, 7-6 (3). Campbell freshman Alexandra Nicoara was able to force a third set and win, 6-7 (3), 6-1, 6-3 to end the match.
