No. 58 Winthrop sweeps Campbell, 7-0

BUIES CREEK, N.C. -- The Fighting Camels fell in a sweep, 7-0, to the Winthrop Eagles Saturday afternoon at the James R. Nisbet Tennis Center. The loss moves CU's record to 7-9 this spring, with a mark of 3-4 in Big South play.

The Camels dropped all three doubles contests to the Eagles. Alexandra Andrivot and Isabel Boada fell on court one, 6-3, to WU's Proctor/Kauffman. The doubles point was clinched on court two as Pauline Roustan and Lea Cutura lost to Cridland/Soloveva, 6-4. Winthrop completed the doubles sweep on court three, with Nina Asanin and Georgina Segarra falling by a score of 6-3.

The Eagles (15-4, 6-0 BSC) carried their momentum into singles action, winning all six flights. Roustan was defeated by Kauffman, 6-2, 6-1, followed by Cutura who fell, 6-4, 6-1. Freshman Alexandra Nicoara dropped her match on court three, 7-6, 6-3, to WU's Cridland to clinch the win for the Eagles.

After the match was clinched, Boada was defeated by Aida Kelic, 6-1, 6-3 on court five. Andrivot fell on court one to Winthrop's top player, No. 87 Lauren Proctor, 7-6, 6-2 to snap a six-match singles winning streak. On court six, Nina Asanin was able to force a third set but ultimately fell in a tiebreaker, 6-4, 1-6, 1-0 (10-8). Segarra played a consolation match, also forcing a third set but ultimately falling 7-6, 1-6, 1-0 (10-7).
