WILSON, N.C. -- The Fighting Camels bounced back with an 8-1 win over the Barton Bulldogs Wednesday evening at the Barton Tennis Complex. After sweeping doubles play, the Campbell women won five of six singles matches to claim their fourth victory in their last six matches.

Because Barton is a Div. II opponent, the doubles matches counted for one point each towards the final score. Lea Cutura and Pauline Roustan opened the match with a win on court two, 6-1. Campbell juniors Nina Asanin and Georgina Segarra picked up their fourth win of the season at No. 3 doubles, 6-3. Doubles play ended on court one as Alexandra Andrivot and Isabel Boada took their match, 6-2.

Campbell (8-9, 3-4 Big South) carried its momentum into singles action, winning five-straight singles flights to earn the overall victory. Segarra made her singles season debut with a quick 6-0, 6-0 win at the No. 5 spot. The match was clinched as freshman Alexandra Nicoara won on court two. After taking the first set, 7-5, Nicoara's opponent retired to make the score 5-0.

Roustan snapped a four-match losing streak on court four as she won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2. The next win came at No. 6 singles where Asanin took her match, 6-1, 6-1. Campbell's final victory of the day came on court three as Isabel Boada defeated her opponent, 6-1, 6-4. Barton's lone win of the day was at No. 1 singles as Cutura fell, 7-5, 6-4.

Up next, the Camels will take a week off before returning home to host South Carolina State. That match is set to begin at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 6 at the James R. Nisbet Tennis Center. For the most up-to-date information on Campbell tennis, follow @GoCamelsTennis.
