Volleyball Heads to Liberty, Radford this Weekend
BUIES CREEK, N.C.-After winning three of its last four, Campbell travels to Liberty and Radford this weekend for a pair of Big South matches. The Camels will head to Liberty on Friday for a 7 p.m. contest before taking on Radford at 4 p.m. Saturday.
Campbell is 12-14 overall this season and 5-5 in Big South Conference matches following a 3-2 win at Gardner-Webb last Saturday. The Camels are 5-0 in five set matches this season, with each of the team's last three wins coming after decisive frames.
Junior outside hitter Jordan Reaves leads the Camels at 2.76 kills and 2.78 digs per set this season, while Brooke Kelley tallies 1.96 kills a frame. Kelley, a freshman right side, posts a team-best 2.78 kills per set in conference play, recording 75 of her 104 kills on the year against Big South opponents.
Senior middle Annie Kobeski tacks on 1.89 kills and 0.88 blocks per set. Sophomore setter Heather Wilson also records 8.01 assists and 1.95 digs, while senior libero Kelsey Campbell notches 3.32 digs per set.
Winners of five in a row overall and six straight in Big South play, Liberty is 14-11 and a league-best 9-1 in conference matches this season. The Flames are also 5-0 at home against Big South foes.
Sophomore outside hitter Lillie Happel leads the Flames on the season with 3.36 kills and 2.36 digs per set, while junior middle blocker Loren Thomas collects 2.16 kills and 1.38 blocks. Sophomore setter Jade Craycraft totals 7.27 assists and 1.67 digs per frame, while senior libero Kelly Haseman posts 4.28 digs.
Radford, standing at 11-14 overall and 5-5 in conference contests, has dropped two straight to Liberty and Winthrop after winning three in a row.
Megan McWhorter leads the Highlanders at 2.97 kills and 2.13 digs per set, with Rachel Wiechecki gathering 2.34 kills and 2.03 digs. Christine Beckham and Leigh Myers combine for 8.75 assists per set, with Rachel Brummitt tacking on 5.08 digs a stanza.
After the weekend pair the Camels will return home for the final time in 2011, taking on Charleston Southern (Nov. 11, 5 p.m.) and Coastal Carolina (Nov. 12, 2 p.m.)
