Timiney leads Campbell men to first place finish; Women finish second at Seahawk Invitational

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Senior Morgan Timiney led the Cambpell men's cross country team to first place at the UNCW Seahawk XC Invitational on Friday, while the women took second place. The men clinched their first win of the season with 22 points, while the women finished with 50 at the 5K.

Timiney finished the run in 15:29.07, a second before Chris Schulist who came in second at 15:30.24. Evan Darm secured fourth place with a 15:51.49 finish, followed by Eric Baldwin in sixth with a time of 16:10.00.  The final three placers for the Camels were Michael Bedell (16:13.15), in ninth Mason Holt (16:22.60) in 12th, and Clayton Woll (16:30.37) in 15th.

Anthony Hughes and Josh Vermette also finished for CU with times of 16:43.82 and 17:10.49, respectively.

The CU women's team was paced by Ashley Matthews in second place with a time of 18:33.87 and Samantha Robbins in third at 18:34.12. Claudia Mundy was the next Camel runner in with a time of 19:35.71 for 13th place, while Chelsey Bush finished in 15th place with a time of 19:59.20. Michelle Kauffman (20:07.39), Kelsey Rea (20:24.27), and Amina Barkane (20:36.04) finished in 17th, 20th, and 21st places, respectively.

Siera Hagl (21:01.55), Courtney Schultz (22:07.30), and Angela Stubbs (23:04.26) also finished the race.

The Camels are back in action Sept. 21 at the Big South Conference Preview held in Buena Vista, Va. at 8:30 a.m.
