UNC Greensboro Defeats Campbell Wrestling 42-3

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Freshman Doug West earned Campbell's only win of the night as UNC Greensboro took nine of the ten matches to win the contests 42-3 Wednesday night in college wrestling action.

The Spartans won three matches by fall and took two more by major decision. Joe Sheffield won the HWT class in a fall in 4:56. Charles Jones defeated Campbell's Jeff Lyons in 2:32 and Daren Burns pinned Willy Johnson in 3:58.

Doug West took CU's only match of the night, taking a 7-3 decision over Chris Beneivenga. The win is West's first dual victory of his college career.

The dual with Campbell was UNCG's second match of the night. The Spartans defeated Anderson 28-15 in the earlier match.

This was the second straight season that Greensboro has won nine of 10 bouts against Campbell and their it's fifth win in nine tries against the Camels.

Campbell (0-2) next wrestles on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. in the Navy Classic. UNC Greensboro also returns to action this weekend when it participates in the East Stroudsburg Open.
