Campbell Grapplers Finish Eighth in Navy Classic;
Navy Takes Team
Title
ANNAPOLIS, Md.
The Navy wrestling team won five of the ten individual events and
took the team title at 2004 Navy Classic Saturday afternoon at
Halsey Field House.
Navy won the team
scoring with 202.5 points. Virginia Tech finished second (152) and
N.C. State placed third (126). Campbell finished eighth in the
eight team field with one team point.
Navy's Sam Gray
(133-lbs.), Nate Gulosh (141-lbs.), John Cox (149-lbs.), Thayer
Paxton (197-lbs.) and Tanner Garrett (HWT) all claimed individual
titles for Navy.
Matt Lebe (157-lbs.) of
West Virginia, Chris Stith (165-lbs.) of Virginia Tech, Andy Roy
(174-lbs.) from Rutgers and Chris Ressa (184-lbs.) of Rutgers also
earned individual titles.
Campbell's only victory
of the night came in the 184-pound weight class. Josh Kalafchi
earned a 5-4 victory over Zack Hawk of Duquesne.
The Camels do not
compete again until January 7 when they host American. CU has 17
