NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. – Campbell's time at the 2016 NCAA Wrestling Championship came to a finish as red-shirt junior, Nathan Kraisser, fell in a 17-4 major decision to Jade Rauser of Utah Valley on Friday morning.

Rauser got the early jump on Kraisser with a pair of takedowns in the first period. Kraisser chose down to start the second trailing 4-2 in the points and managed to gain an escape but Rauser got his third takedown as time expired in the second up 6-3.

With the riding time in his favor, Rauser chose to start the third period in neutral and got two additional takedowns, and two nearfalls of two- and four-points, to go up 16-4 at the end of the third period. Tack on the additional point for riding time of over a minute and the Wolverine grappler won 17-4 over the Camel in a major decision.

With the loss, the Fighting Camels season ends with Kraisser going 1-2 in his third appearance at the NCAA Championship and Ville Heino 0-2 in his first showing. Kraisser's 2015-16 record is 34-9 while Heino finished with a 26-14 total.

Both grapplers return next season for the Camels and will look to reach the NCAA's again with All-American status their ultimate goal.

Currently, the Camels sit tied for 47th with 3 team points in the NCAA wrestling ranks along with Franklin & Marshall, UVA, WVU and Gardner-Webb.
