Robinson named assoc. head coach, Morse joins staff

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Taelar Robinson has been promoted to associate head coach and Julie Morse has been added as assistant coach, announced by Campbell head women's lacrosse coach Dawn Easley.

"I am excited to announce Taelar as associate head coach at Campbell," said Easley. "Taelar is the longest standing member in this program since it started in 2013. Taelar has been a big reason why Campbell has seen consistent positive growth. Her ability to teach and mentor our players has made an incredible impact on the lives of the players in our program. I am grateful for her loyalty and passion for this institution and I couldn't be more proud to make this announcement."

"I am thrilled to be adding Julie to our staff," Easley added. "Her successful experience both on the field and as a coach are reasons why she rose to the top. Her passion for her players and passions for teaching the game fit within the culture of what we are building at Campbell. Campbell has seen steady growth in the last few years and I am looking forward to continuing that growth in a positive direction with Julie on board."

Robinson completed her fourth season on the Campbell coaching staff in 2019, serving as the Camels' offensive coordinator, while also spearheading recruiting efforts.

During her tenure in Buies Creek, 20 Camels have been honored on All-Big South teams, including a program record 17 over the last three seasons.

Five Camels were named All-Big South in 2019, including four-time all-conference performer Melissa Placek, who finished her career as Campbell's all-time leader in draw controls, while ranking second in overall and free position goals, top-five points, games played and started, as well as top-10 in assists, ground balls and caused turnovers. The Camels also advanced to the Big South semifinals for the fourth straight season. She was also named Campbell's 2018-19 Assistant Coach of the Year at the annual CAMMYS.

Campbell set single-season school records for goals (245) and draw controls (283) on the way to a nine win season and an appearance in the Big South semifinals in 2018.

In 2017, Robinson helped lead the Camels to the most successful season in program history. CU recorded its highest all-time winning percentage (.556) and won 10 games for the second-straight season.

Campbell posted a program-best 6-1 record in the Big South to finish second in the league, the best finish in program history. Along the way, the Camels reeled off a program-record five-straight victories to open conference play, and ended the year in the program's first Big South Championship game.

Robinson joined the CU coaching staff in 2015, heading to Duke in 2016 before returning to Campbell.

A 2014 Campbell graduate and former Camel midfielder, Robinson played in the program's first two campaigns, serving as a two-time captain. She twice earned Big South honors after totaling 60 goals, 19 assists, 26 ground balls, 45 draw controls and 17 caused turnovers in her two seasons in Buies Creek.

The Valley Lee, Md. native ended her CU career ranking third in the Camels' career records for points, goals and goals per game while sitting fourth in assists and assists per game.
Morse comes to Campbell after spending three seasons as an assistant coach at Washington College.

Morse helped the Shorewomen to top-25 IWLCA poll rankings in each of the past two seasons, including No. 24 in the final poll of 2019, going 12-6 overall and 7-2 in Centennial Conference play. Five Shorewomen were named All-Centennial Conference in 2019, while two claimed all-region nods.

Prior to Washington, Morse starred at Loyola, helping the Greyhounds to three conference titles, reaching the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division I Tournament two times and advancing to the second round twice during her career. Morse helped Loyola win the BIG EAST championship in 2012 and consecutive Patriot League championships in 2014 and 2015. As a senior, she helped the team rank No. 10 nationally in the final IWLCA Division I poll, and helped the squad to the 15th best scoring defense in the nation.

An Easton, Md. native, Morse graduated from Loyola in 2015, and has also coached at the prep and club ranks, with stops at Saint Peter and Paul High School, Bay Area Lacrosse Club and Maximum Exposure Lacrosse Camp, also serving as a coach and leadership counselor at the Julie Foudy Sports Leadership Academy.
