April 20, 2012 Softball Splits Doubleheader With Coastal Carolina On an emotionally charge day, Campbell’s softball team (24-25, 7-7 Big South) split its conference doubleheader with Coastal Carolina (33-16, 10-7 Big South) on Friday, April 20, at the newly unveiled and renamed Amanda Littlejohn Stadium at the Eakes Athletic Complex. March 22, 2012 Softball Opens Big South Conference Play With 5-4 Win Senior Taylor McGee’s singled in the game-winner in the top of the sixth inning to give Campbell’s softball team (16-15, 1-0 BSC) the program’s first win in Big South Conference play since 1994. CU defeated Winthrop (11-17, 0-1 BSC) by a 5-4 score at Terry Field on Thursday, March 22.
March 21, 2012 Softball Begins Big South Conference Play This Week Campbell’s softball team (15-15) will do something this week that the program hasn’t done since 1994 when the team opens Big South Conference regular season play in Rock Hill, S.C. at Terry Field against Winthrop on Thursday, March 22, at 6 p.m. Campbell’s athletic department left the Big South Conference at the start of the 1995 season and just returned in the fall of 2011.
March 19, 2012 Ericka Nesbitt Earns Big South Player Of Week Honors Campbell freshman shortstop Ericka Nesbitt earned Big South Conference’s Choice Hotels Player of Week honors this week, the league office announced. This is her first time being honor by the league and the first time a Campbell softball player has ever earned weekly distinction from the Big South Conference. This is Campbell’s first season in the Big South Conference since 1994 and the league office did not hand out weekly softball awards until 1995.
March 17, 2012 Softball Sweeps Two On Final Day of Camel Stampede Campbell’s softball team (15-15) finished the Camel Stampede with a flourish in taking games from Drexel (9-11) and North Carolina Central (1-26) on the final day of the tournament on Saturday, March 17, at the Eakes Athletic Complex. CU defeated Drexel 6-1 in the first game of the day and held off North Carolina Central for a 5-2 victory in the second game. The Camels ended up with a 3-1 record in the tournament, but held the run differential in the head to head meetings with Drexel to earn the tournament title.

March 9, 2012 Softball Falls To Albany, 2-1 Campbell’s softball team (11-12) dropped its first game of the day at the Winthrop/Adidas Invitational by a 2-1 count to Albany (3-3) on Friday afternoon, March 9. The Camels were limited to three hits in the game and also gave up a pair of unearned runs on a throwing error.

March 3, 2012 Softball Splits Games On Second Day of Lipton Invitational Senior Taylor McGee provided the late game heroics for Campbell’s softball team (9-10) with her two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give CU a 3-1 win over Eastern Michigan (3-10) in the team’s first game of the day at the Lipton Invitational. The Camels lost the night cap, 3-2, to Tennessee State (6-7) despite outhitting the Tigers 6 to 4.
March 2, 2012 Softball Defeats Eastern Michigan and Falls to Tennessee State on Day One of Lipton Invitational Junior Brittany Arnn threw her second shutout of the season to aid Campbell (8-9) to a 5-0 victory over Eastern Michigan (2-9) in the team’s second game of the day at the Lipton Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. CU fell in the morning game of the tournament by a 6-1 score to Tennessee State (5-5).
February 29, 2012 Softball Travels To Florida This Week Campbell’s softball team (7-8) is making a trip down to Gainesville, Fla. this weekend to spend the start of CU’s Spring Break playing in the Lipton Invitational from March 2-4. The Camels are slated to take Tennessee State and Eastern Michigan twice plus a game with No. 3/4 Florida. CU starts the tournament with its contest against Tennessee State at 9 a.m. on March 2. CU then takes on Eastern Michigan at 11:15 a.m. that morning. The Camels take on the same two teams in the opposite order on March 3 at 4:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. Campbell completes the tournament with the marquee match-up with No. 3/4 Florida at 1:30 p.m. on March 4.

February 25, 2012 Softball Upended By Georgia State, 9-6 Campbell (6-8) dropped a 9-6 decision to Georgia State (10-4) in its second game of the day on the second day of the Phyllis Rafter Memorial at the Twin Creeks Softball Complex. For the second straight game the Camels held a lead they could not hold in taking the loss.
February 25, 2012 Softball Falls To Eastern Kentucky, 9-7 Campbell (6-7) dropped its opening game of the second day of the Phyllis Rafter Memorial to Eastern Kentucky (5-2) by a 9-7 score at Woodstock, Ga. at the Twins Creeks Softball Complex on Saturday, Feb. 25. The Camels had a 7-3 lead after two innings, but could not hold on in the loss.
February 24, 2012 Softball Splits Games On First Day of Phyllis Rafter Memorial Campbell (6-6) used a strong pitching performance from junior Brittany Arnn to win its second contest of the day and split the team’s two games on the opening day of the Phyllis Rafter Memorial in Kennesaw State. CU was able to defeat Alabama State (1-8) by a 6-0 score in game two. The team fell to St. Louis (8-4) in its opening game of the day by a 9-1 margin.
February 21, 2012 Seniors Lead Softball To Sweep Of North Carolina Central Campbell (5-5) seniors Christina Melton and Taylor McGee combined to hit four home runs and drive in 10 in the team’s sweep of North Carolina Central (1-9) by scores of 9-1 and 12-1 on Tuesday, Feb. 21. The games were originally scheduled to be played in Cary, N.C., but were moved to CU’s Eakes Athletic Complex in Buies Creek because of wet field conditions at the Thomas Brooks Park.
February 20, 2012 Softball Has Seven Games On the Road This Week Campbell’s softball team (3-5) has its busiest weeks of the season with seven games on tap on the road this week. The Camels are slated to start the week with a doubleheader against North Carolina Central on Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 21, starting at 4 p.m. at Thomas Brooks Park (Field 5). Pope Jr. Convocation Center/Gilbert Craig Gore Arena (basketball, volleyball and wrestling), building of the Irwin Belk Track (track and field) and renovations of Taylor Field (baseball), the campus has grown tremendously in a short period of time. The Campbell University softball team is proud to announce that the Eakes Athletic Softball Complex is also undergoing a major renovation that began late last month.

October 10, 2011 Softball Team Ranks Among National Academic Leaders and Places 11 Players on NFCA’s Scholar-Athlete Team Campbell’s softball team continued to garner awards, even in the off-season, as the team earned national recognition by placing among the top 25 programs nationally in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Academic Team, the organization announced this morning. Individually, 11 members of the team were named NFCA All-America Scholar Athletes for the 2010-11 academic school year.

The season was highlighted by Campbell making the Atlantic Sun Tournament for the sixth consecutive season extending the longest that CU's softball put together since joining the league prior to the 1995 campaign. The team also won 30 plus games for the third time in the last four seasons and the eighth time in school history.

The Camels will take on Lipscomb in another elimination game at 5:30 p.m. CU will be looking to end its third A-Sun opponents' season in the tournament with the game against Lipscomb.

The Camels had won the earlier game in the day but could not overcome a LU in the loss.

The Camels will now advance to the third day on May 13th and play another elimination game at 3 p.m. against Mercer.

The Bears were able to plate a run in the top of the seventh inning to grab the lead for good.

May 8, 2011 Softball Hosts Longwood and Travels To the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament This Week Campbell's softball team (30-24, 11-9 Atlantic Sun) has a busy week of action on slate this week. The Camels will get in a final regular season tune-up and takes on Longwood (32-11) at home on Monday, May 9, in a doubleheader starting at noon. CU then will attempt to close out the team's play in the Atlantic Sun Conference with a bang with another A-Sun Tournament title from May 11-14. The Camels have won the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament title in two of the last three seasons and head off to Spartanburg, S.C. at Cyrill Stadium as the fourth seed. The Camels begin tournament play with a 2 p.m. game against fifth seed Mercer on Wednesday, May 11. The winner of that game advances and takes on top seed Jacksonville on May 12 at 12:30 p.m. The loser of the Campbell and Mercer game takes on the loser of the No. 3 seed USC Upstate/No. 6 seed Kennesaw State in an elimination game at 10 a.m. on May 12.

The game is a rescheduled doubleheader from April 27.

The Camels will open the tournament against Mercer (28-22, 10-10 Atlantic Sun) who earned the fifth seed with a sweep of Kennesaw State over the weekend. The tournament begins on May 11th in Spartanburg, S.C, at Cyrill Stadium. The times for the games have still not been announced.

April 16, 2011 Softball Falls To North Florida, 7-6 Campbell's softball team (27-20, 9-5 Atlantic Sun) dropped a 7-6 game to North Florida (21-26, 5-9 Atlantic Sun) in the team's night cap of the conference doubleheader in Jacksonville, Fla. The game saw CU put up 13 hits, but also strand 11 runners in the loss.

April 16, 2011 Softball Downed 2-1 In Extra Innings To Jacksonville Jacksonville's Olivia Kline earned the win and hit the game-winning home run in the top of the ninth inning to defeat Campbell's softball team (27-22, 9-7 Atlantic Sun) by a 2-1 score in nine innings at JU Softball Complex. The Dolphins are now 33-14 and 12-2 in the Atlantic Sun this season
