Rispoli Drives in Seven Runs in 19-5 Win Over
Charleston Southern
CHARLESTON,
S.C. - Campbell shortstop Tom Rispoli hit his third home run of the
year and drove in seven runs as the Diamond Camels downed
Charleston Southern 19-5 Tuesday afternoon at Buccaneer Field.
Campbell
(18-23) used 18 hits to drive in the 19 runs. Campbell last scored
19 runs on an opponent in last season's opening game against
Delaware State winning 19-1.
Rispoli
led the Camels offensively going 3-for-6 at the plate driving in
seven runs and scoring two. His seven RBI performance marked the
first time a Camel had posted that many since Bradley Coates on
Feb. 28, 1998 versus Virginia Tech. Rispoli is tied with three
other players for the second-most RBI total in a game. Henry
Rochelle set the mark with 10 RBI versus Radford on March 30,
1985.
Center
fielder Jeff Blick went 4-four-6 at the plate and reached home four
times. Four Camels posted two or more RBI for the game.
Rob
Finch (1-2) picked up the win for CU going five innings on the
mound. He gave up five runs on seven hits and struck out three.
The Campbell bullpen worked two solid innings of relief as Jordan
Topal, Andrew Barrows and Patrick Murray combined to surrender just
on hit and strike out three Bucs.
Jordan
Haar led Charleston Southern going 2-for-3 on the day, scoring
twice, knocking in two RBI and posting his seventh home run of the
year. Brandon Massey was also 2-for-3 at the plate.
Nino
Fasulo (0-5) took the loss for CSU, allowing 10 runs on eight hits
in one-and-2/3 innings on the mound. Relief pitcher Robert Parnell
fared no better, surrendering six runs on seven hits in
three-and-1/3 innings of work.
Campbell
will have two weeks to rest before finishing up the season. The
Camels next game is scheduled for May 6 at Elon University in Elon,
N.C. The first pitch is slated for 3:00 p.m. [Box
