CU Cross Country Teams Conclude Season
at NCAA District III
Championships
BUIES CREEK -- The Campbell University
cross country teams finished their season at the NCAA District III
Championships held Saturday in Greenville, S.C., on the campus of
Furman University.
The Fighting Camels sent five runners to the event, but did
not field complete teams.
On the men's side, junior Ryan Richmond finished the 2000
campaign as the top CU runner for the seventh straight event. He
completed the 10 kilometer course in 32:56 to finish
71st.
Joining Richmond at the event were senior Bill McGlaughon
(94th, 33:36) and freshman Justin Lambert-Belanger
(133rd, 34:41).
Sophomore Heather Lee was the highest CU finisher in the
women's six kilometer event. Lee was 67th with a time
of 23:33. Freshman Renee Acker (143rd, 25:13) was the
only other CU women's runner to attend the event.
Individually, Terry Brennan (Duke) won the men's title with a
time of 30:37, while Shalane Flanagan (University of North
Carolina) was the women's winner with a time of 20:51.
William & Mary, and North Carolina State won the men's and
women's team titles respectively. Both squads will advance to the
NCAA Championships which will be held on November 20th
in Ames, Iowa on the campus of Iowa State
