BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Michelle Anderson scored three goals and Cally Howell set school records for single-season and career assists to lead the University of Central Florida to an 8-0 women's soccer victory over Campbell on Saturday at the Eakes Athletic Complex.
UCF led 2-0 at halftime, then scored three times in a 2:33 span midway through the second period to break open the game. The Golden Knights (7-10-1, 6-2-0 TAAC) handed Campbell (4-10-1, 2-6-1) its worst loss since an 8-0 setback at William and Mary in 1998. The loss also eliminated the Lady Camels from contention for a spot in next month's six-team Trans America Athletic Conference Tournament.
Howell had three assists on the afternoon to give her 16 on the year and 34 for her career. She broke the season school record of 15 assists set by Danya Harris in 1996 and topped Harris' 33 career set-ups for the all-time mark.
Jackie Kutudis gave UCF a 1-0 lead just 8:18 into the match, then Anderson scored her first goal in the 17^th minute.
Claire Kohake scored the first of her two tallies in the 57^th minute, then Anderson completed her hat trick with strikes at 73:44 and 75:08. Howell's record-setting assist came off a corner kick that Kohake headed by Camel keeper Jamie Olson at 76:17.
Alice Uhlir and Lindsay Maier completed the scoring after 80 and 84 minutes, respectively.
UCF held a 35-1 advantage in shots. Olson's career-high 20 saves were just one shy of the school record set by Liz Neidlinger at Vanderbilt in 1994.
