John Izzo Earns Second A-Sun Offensive Player of the Week Honor

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – John Izzo of Campbell University has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference men's soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks.

Izzo, a junior midfielder from Spring, Texas, assisted on Campbell's first goal, then scored the game-winner in a 2-1 overtime victory at Georgia State on Saturday. That victory propelled Campbell to its fourth win in the last six outings and a sixth-place finish in the Atlantic Sun Conference standings.

One of the top offensive midfielders in the A-Sun, Izzo ranks second among league leaders in assists (seven) and assists per game (0.44). He also has added six goals in 16 outings for 19 points. Izzo rates sixth among A-Sun leaders in points and is eighth in goals scored.

He also gained Offensive Player of the Week recognition on Oct. 28 following a two-goal performance – including the game-winner -- in Campbell's 3-1 victory over Georgia Southern on Oct. 26.

Campbell finished its first season under head coach Doug Hess with a 6-11 overall record and 3-5 mark in the Atlantic Sun.
