Campbell Grabs Two Road

BUIES CREEK, N.C. --
Campbell University defeated Gardner-Webb 30-16 and Duquesne 21-16
in wrestling action Saturday in Boiling Springs, N.C.
In the morning match with Gardner-Webb, the Camels
dropped the opening two matches before Andy Bricker won by forfeit
and Joey Bricker put CU on-top 12-9 with a pin over the Bulldogs
Eli West at 133-pounds. GWU went ahead 13-12 when Daniel Elliot
scored a major decision over Adam Bricker at 141-pounds.
Sophomore Mike Wrinkle gave the Camels the lead for good with
a pin at 149-pounds. Adam Rees extended CU's cushion with a
forfeit win at 157-pounds. 174-pounder Lantz Nixon pinned Robbie
Pritz in 1 minute and 32 seconds to give the Camels a 27-16 lead.
Jon Carlisle gave the Camels the 14-point victory by winning the
final match of the evening at 184-pounds.
In the afternoon match with Duquesne, Brandon Miller put the
Camels on the board defeating Jesse Walker at 197-pounds. Duquesne
won the heavyweight match before Andy Bricker put CU back on-top
with a 6-2 win over Kevin Gray at 125-pounds.
Campbell dropped the next two matches and trailed 10-6
following the bout at 141-pounds. Campbell's Wrinkle recorded his
second pin of the day and pushed CU back in-front 12-10. CU and
Duquesne then traded the next two matches before Lantz Nixon pinned
Mike Frank in 56 seconds, his third win of the week.
With the score 21-13, Jon Carlisle dropped his match at
184-pounds to Jeff Moskyok to make the final score 21-16 in-favor
of Campbell.
The Camels improved to 6-5 overall and return to the mats next
Saturday when they wrestle Davidson and VMI in Davidson,
N.C.
