Men's Tennis Downs
Jacksonville State in A-Sun
Tournament, 4-2
MACON, GA.
The Campbell
University men's tennis team (11-9) used singles wins from spots
2-6 in the line-up to come back from dropping the doubles point to
advance to the second round of the Atlantic Sun Tournament with a
4-2 win over Jacksonville State (3-16), Thursday.
The Jacksonville
State doubles teams of Ruben Herrera and Arthuro Nieto and Matt
Davis and Toby Bourke won the doubles point for the Gamecocks with
wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. The Gamecocks added another point
when Herrera defeated Andreas Mardbrink at No. 1 singles, 3-6, 6-3,
6-4, but by the time he was done, Campbell had won four singles
matches to eliminate JSU from the tournament.
Campbell now advances
to face Georgia State at 5 p.m., Friday.
