Hood and Williams Lead Camels
at Hampton Inn/JU Invitational Track
Meet
JACKSONVILLE, FLA.
Sophomore Jeremaine Hood and freshman
Clarence Williams both notched a pair of top-five
showings to highlight Campbell
University performances over the weekend at the Hampton
Inn/Jacksonville University Invitational outdoor track and field
meet.
Hood, a native of
Snellville, Ga., finished second in the 800 meters (1:57.06), just
ahead of Williams (1:57.08), who was third. Williams, who hails
from Hampton, Va., was third in the 1500 meters (4:07.87), while
Hood was fifth (4:08.93).
Freshman Michael Earle from
Scarborough, Ontario placed sixth in the 1500 (4:09.13) and ninth
in the 800 (2:00.30).
Junior Eric Bergemann from Gresham, Ore., who is a provisional
NCAA Indoor national qualifier in the high jump, did not compete in
his primary event, but did finish seventh in the long jump with a
personal-best leap of 21-feet, 5 ˝-inches.
Bergemann and junior Heather Lee
(3000 meters) will find out early this week if their NCAA indoor
provisional marks will be accepted to the championships, which will
be held on Friday and Saturday at Fayetteville, Ark.
Campbell returns to outdoor action at the UNC Wilmington
Seahawk Invitational on Fri.-Sat., Mar. 8-9.
