Campbell Gains All-League Honors in Five Events at A-Sun Track and Field Championships

TROY, ALA. – Campbell University's Eric Bergemann won the high jump and added a pair of runner-up finishes in the Atlantic Sun Track and Field Championships at Troy State University's Memorial Stadium.
Campbell finished fourth in the men's standings with 49 points. Troy State won the men's team title with 211 points, 26 more than second-place Samford in the seven-school field.
Bergemann, a junior from Gresham, Ore., was runner-up in the men's Most Outstanding Performer race with 26 points to Samford's Josh Jones, who compiled 30 points. Bergemann won the A-Sun high jump competition for the third-straight year and broke his own league record by hitting an outdoor personal-record leap of 7-feet, Ľ-inches.
He hit 7-feet even at the Pirate Relays last month to become the second Camel athlete ever to clear 7-feet outdoors, joining All-American and school record holder Orville Peterson, who recorded a 7-foot, 1-inch jump in 1983. Bergemann cleared 7-feet, 1-and-1/2-inches indoors this season and finished 11th in the NCAA Division I Indoor Championships high jump last month.
Bergemann also set personal records in the long jump (22' 1 ˝") and triple jump (44' ˝") and placed second in both events to earn three all-conference honors for the Fighting Camels.
Freshman Michael Earle of Scarborough, Ontario also earned all-league recognition by finishing third in the 3000-meter steeplechase in a personal-record time of 9:44.68.
Campbell's 4x100-meter relay unit of Daniel Jenkis (Sardis, GA), Beran Bloomfield (Brooklyn, NY), Jeremy Cucinella (Oviedo, FL) and David Nibbs (Green Bay, WI) earned all-conference honors with a third-place showing of 42.83 seconds.
