Bergemann Tops Seven
Feet at Pirate Relays
GREENVILLE, N.C. Eric
Bergemann became the second Campbell University high jumper ever to
clear seven feet outdoors last weekend at the Pirate Relays.
Bergemann posted a personal outdoor
record of seven feet to win the high jump. In his first outdoor
competition of the season in the event, the junior from Gresham,
Ore., just missed the school record of 7-feet-1 set by All American
Orville Peterson in 1983. Bergemann broke the school indoor record
(7-feet, 1 ˝-inches) last month and finished 11th
in the NCAA Division I indoor high jump.
Junior Beran Bloomfield
of Brooklyn, N.Y., finished second in the triple jump with a
season-best showing of 42-feet, 2-inches.
Sophomore Jeremaine Hood
from Snellville, Ga., and freshman Clarence Williams of Hampton,
Va., placed 1-2 in the 800 meters. Hood ran 1:58.95, while
Williams was close behind at 1:59.65.
Campbell's track and
field teams return to action at the Raleigh Relays on Friday and
Saturday (Mar. 29-30).
