Basketball Teams Hold Orange &
Black Scrimmages
BUIES CREEK, N.C. - On Parent's Day at Campbell University, the
men's and women's basketball teams held their annual Orange and
Black scrimmages, giving the public their first look at the 2002-03
editions of both squads.
For the women, the Black team came out with a 44-33 win over the
Orange. The Black team was comprised of juniors Terra Guandolo and
Kristal Troy, sophomore Chantel Martin, and freshmen Amber Graham,
Kelli Manning, and Jennifer Lodge. The Orange team was made up of
senior Jessica Stanley, sophomores Kristin Vuckovich, LaTisha
Patterson, and Heather Gray, and freshmen Tomika Tomlinson and
Da'sha Green.
Manning and Graham led all scorers on the day with 11 points each.
Graham hit three treys on the afternoon. Vuckovich and Tomlinson
scored nine apiece for the Orange.
For the men, the White team held on to a 35-32 win over the Black
squad as freshman Corey Parker hit two foul shots with 1.7 seconds
remaining to seal the three-point win. The White team was made up
of junior Derek Gray, sophomores Nathan Wells and Brad McKeiver,
and freshmen Lee Marsh, Parker, Robby Dupre, and Marcellous
Williams. The Black squad was seniors Jonte Edwards, Brooks Lee,
Soloman Yearby; junior Tarick Johnson; sophomore Dominique Klein;
and freshman Pat Stephenson.
Johnson led all scorers in the men's scrimmage with nine points.
Yearby picked up eight points for Black, while Gray recorded eight
points for White. Sophomores Nathan Wells and Brad McKeiver added
seven points on the afternoon.
Both teams will begin their 2002-03 schedules at home as the Lady
Camels host Appalachian State on Friday, Nov. 22 at 7:00 p.m., and
the men host Francis Marion on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 2:00 p.m.
