Bergemann Earns Provisional NCAA Qualification In High Jump

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Campbell University junior Eric Bergemann broke his own school record and earned a provisional NCAA qualifying standard in the high jump on Wednesday at the UNC Last Chance Indoor Track and Field Meet.
Bergemann, a native of Gresham, Ore., jumped 2.17 meters (7-feet, 1 ˝-inches) to eclipse the mark he set earlier in the month of 6-feet, 11 ľ inches. Bergemann's mark stands as the 15th-best in the country this year. He also became the second Campbell athlete to earn an NCAA provisional qualifying mark this winter. Heather Lee is a provisional qualifier in the women's 3000 meter run.
The NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships will be held at Fayetteville, Ark., on Mar. 8-9. Bergemann and Lee will be notified early next week if their provisional qualifying marks will gain them entrance into the competition.
In addition to Bergemann's showing, two other Fighting Camels earned personal best times on Wednesday. Michael Earle (8:51.98) and Clarence Williams (9:04.54) set PRs in the 3000-meter run.
