Rachel Templin Named to A-Sun All-Freshman Team

MACON, Ga. - Following an outstanding freshman season for the Campbell University volleyball team, Rachel Templin has been named to the Atlantic Sun All-Freshman team announced A-Sun Assistant Director of Communications Mike Holmes today.

A native of Andersonville, Tenn., Templin ranked second on the squad in kills with 199 (2.29/game) this season. She led the team in hitting percentage (.212) as well as points scored (247.5).

The 6-foot-2 middle hitter posted eight double-figure kill games including a 16-kill performance (.571 attack percentage) against Jacksonville (10/3). Templin was one of three freshmen to start 20 or more matches (Brittany Rusin, Tabitha Turner).

The last Campbell volleyball player to earn league all-freshman honors was Abby Jenkins (then the All-Newcomer award) in 1998. Tinsley Gordon (1997) was the only other recipient of the award.

As the youngest squad in the Atlantic Sun in the 2003 season, the Camels finished with a 2-25 record overall and a 1-9 league record.
