Lady Panthers Defeat Conference Rival Campbell 84-56

ATLANTA-- In a match-up of Atlantic Sun Conference North Division rivals on Monday, the Georgia State University women's basketball team extended its winning streak to a season-high three games with an 84-56 win over Campbell University at the GSU Sports Arena.

Georgia State (8-7, 3-1) established a six-point lead, 14-8, with just under 12 minutes remaining in the first half before Campbell (5-9, 1-2) fought back to take its first advantage, 20-19, with 6:20 left. After three more lead changes, the Lady Panthers led at halftime, 34-30.

In the second half, State took control of the contest by shooting 62.5 percent from the field while limiting the Lady Camels to just 36.4 percent.

The winners finished at 52.5 percent from the floor for the game, compared to 40.4 percent for their guests. GSU also won the battle of the boards by a 34-22 count.
Senior Evita Rogers led Georgia State with game highs of 23 points and 10 rebounds while senior Kara Edwards contributed 16. Senior Angelina Miller scored 12 points while sophomore Dee Dee Merriweather dished out a game-best seven assists.

CU was paced by Sarah Fox, who had 16 points off the bench. Jennifer Lodge added 10 points and six boards.

The Lady Camels return to action on Thursday when they host Samford at 7:00 p.m. The Lady Panthers will travel to play A-Sun Conference North Division leader Jacksonville State University on Saturday.
