Lady
Camels Earn Berth Into Atlantic Sun Championship Tournament
BUIES
CREEK, N.C. - For the ninth consecutive year, the Campbell women's
basketball team will make an appearance in the Atlantic Sun Women's
Basketball Championship Tournament. This season's tournament will
be hosted by UCF in Orlando, Fla. on March 13-15.
The
Lady Camels have posted a 9-17 overall record and are 5-10 in A-Sun
play. Campbell is ranked fourth in the North Division of the
conference.
Due
to the addition of Gardner-Webb, the A-Sun moved to divisional play
in women's basketball this year. The top four teams from the North
and South divisions will advance to the conference tournament and
compete for the A-Sun's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Campbell
has an 8-7 all-time record in the A-Sun Tournament - reaching the
finals in 2000 and 2001 and winning the title in 2000. The Lady
Camels moved on to play Duke in the NCAA East Regional after
winning the 2000 Championship title.
Seedings
for the tournament will be set following this week's action.
Campbell will finish up regular season play on the road against
Gardner-Webb. CU defeated Gardner-Webb earlier this season, 76-64,
in Buies Creek.
