BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Sophomore Kristin
Vuckovich scored 16 points to lead three Campbell players in
double-figures, as the Lady Camels handed Samford a 60-50 loss
Saturday in women's college basketball action at Seibert Hall.
The loss drops
Samford to 6-18 (2-11 A-Sun). Campbell improves to 9-15 (5-8).
Samford was hindered by poor shooting the whole game. The Bulldogs
shot 29-percent in the first half, 38-percent in the second half,
and 34-percent for the game. Campbell shot 51-percent for the game,
and Vuckovich was a big reason why.
Vuckovich was 4-4 from the field (3-3 on 3-pointers), and 5-5 on
free throws for her 16 points. The Bulldogs were led in scoring by
Cora Beth Smith, who had 15 points on 5-for-11 shooting.
Campbell led by only three points at the half, despite shooting
much better than the Bulldogs. But turnovers proved to be Samford's
undoing, as 15 turnovers led to 18 Fighting Camel points.
Senior Noot Pittman played well on her senior day, scoring 12
points and grabbing six rebounds before fouling out late.
The Lady Camels will return to action on Friday, Feb. 27 as they
host Georgia State in Buies Creek. Tip-off is slated for 5:45
p.m.
