Campbell Claims Championship Spot in Lady Aggie
Softball Invitational

GREENSBORO, NC - Holly Harris pitched a
one-hitter and Shannon O'Bryan went 2-for-3 with two runs scored as
Campbell (17-22) defeated N.C. A&T (18-18) 2-0 to end the first
day of the two-day Lady Aggie Softball Invitational, which was held
at Levette Field. The victory put the Lady Camels in tomorrow's
3:00 PM championship game, as they defeated Morgan State (6-9) 8-0
in game one. N.C. A&T defeated Morgan State 2-1 in game
two.
O'Bryan singled in the bottom of the first
off losing pitcher Latronda Anderson (10-9), then scored off an RBI
single by Kristina Schmallen to put the Lady Camels up 1-0.
Campbell added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth, when O'
Bryan scored off a fielding error by Cheretta Stevenson. Amy
Anderson added two hits for the Lady Camels.
Harris (6-5) allowed a fourth inning
single to Christina Brock, but allowed only two other runners to
reach base by way of errors. She struck out five and walked none in
the complete game. Anderson took the loss despite allowing only one
earned run and striking out two with no walks.
In the opener of the Invitational, Lexi
Myers (9-8) pitched a two hitter while Erica Willis went 2-for-3
with four RBI to lead Campbell to a run-ruled 8-0 victory over
Morgan State. Myers struck out eight and did not allow a runner to
reach third base.
On offense, the Lady Camels broke open a
3-0 lead with five runs in the sixth inning to enforce the eight
run rule. Holly Harris went 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBI
for the victors. Grace Glenn (3-6) took the loss on the mound for
the Lady Bears, as she allowed eight runs on seven hits. Shena
Gunnell-Clark and Jamila Taylor each recorded hits for the Lady
Bears.
N.C. A&T will play Morgan State in a
rematch in the Consolation Game, which is set for 1:00 PM tomorrow
at Levette Field. Campbell will await the winner at 3:00 PM in the
