Campbell Swimming in 12th Place after Two Days
of Competition
LANDOVER Md.
After two days of competition, the Campbell University women's
swimming team is 12th in the NEC Swimming and Diving
Championships.
The Camels have 42 team
points, while Gardner-Webb leads the championships with 494 points
through two days. Central Connecticut State is second at
372.
Freshman Kristin Thomas
had CU highest finish of the day by placing 17th in the 100
Backstroke with a time of 1:04.97. Heather Seals earned the Camels'
second best finish of the day, coming in 21st in the 100 Butterfly
with a time of 1:05.04.
The Camels two relay
teams the 200 Medley Relay and 800 Freestyle Relay
posted solid times on the day. CU swam the 200 Medley at 2:13.33 to
finish 12th and placed 10th in the 800 Freestyle with a time of
8:58.50.
Five more NEC records
fell in Day Two. Central Connecticut State set a new mark finishing
at 1:46.41 in the 200 Medley Relay. Wagner's Jess Radke broke the
100 Butterfly time with a 56.86 time and Jaime Crowley, of Central
Connecticut State, set a new record in the 100 Backstroke at
1:02.47 (Prelims). Terra Wilson of Gardner-Webb not only set a new
record in the 200 Freestyle, posting a time of 1:49.20, but her
time was good enough to make her an NCAA B Qualifier.
The NEC Swimming and
Diving Championships conclude Saturday. Trials will begin at 10:00
a.m. with finals getting under way at 6:00 p.m. at the Prince
George's Sports and Learning Complex. [Combined
