Campbell Defeats Charlotte 6-1
BUIES CREEK
Campbell won five of the six singles matches in a 6-1 victory
over Charlotte on Saturday at the Nisbet
Tennis Center.
The Fighting Camels
(10-7) won their second-straight dual match and the eighth in their
last 10 outings. Charlotte (5-14) lost its second match in a
row.
Campbell earned the doubles
point with victories at number one and three. Jiri Beranek and
Ryan Mills combined for an 8-2 victory at the top slot, while
Martin Parkes and Sergio Tejada paired for their ninth doubles
triumph in their last 10 outings to move to 16-6 on the
year.
The Camels then won
the top five singles matches. Beranek, Mills and Zorick Toltsan
won in straight sets. Florent Wilpotte and Carlos Campo also
rallied to win after losing the first set in their
matches.
Parkes saw his
personal nine-match win streak halted with a 7-5, 4-6, (10-4)
setback against Stuart Lynas in a super tiebreak third set after
the team result was determined.
Toltsan won his 57th
career singles match and stands just six behind fifth-place Rodrigo
Cagide (63-28) on CU's all-time wins list.
The Camels return to
action on Monday, Apr. 5 at 1:30 p.m. vs. Atlantic Sun rival
Gardner-Webb at the Nisbet Center.
